Saving your Beeper Recovery Code on Beeper iOS
Learn how to securely store and access your Beeper Recovery Code using Apple Keychain for easy retrieval and peace of mind.
Saving your Recovery Code from a new account setup on iOS
- Open the Beeper app and enter your email address to sign up for a Beeper account. We will send you a 6-digit code for a passwordless login.
- Enter the 6-digit code in the text field to validate the login
- Once done, it will take you to the Connect Chat Accounts screen where you can connect any of your chat networks either as an on-device connection (top half of the screen) or cloud connection (bottom half).
4. After connecting one of your chat networks, you'll be taken to your main inbox, also called ‘All Chats’.
5. Your Recovery Code will be saved automatically to your iCloud Keychain.
Save a copy of your Recovery Key:
After 24 hours of creating your account, you'll see a prompt to save your recovery key:
Save Key Manually:
If you want to save your code manually in any other location aside from your iOS Passwords app, you can click ‘Save key manually’ and ‘Copy to clipboard’ to copy the code on your screen. You can then paste this into your preferred location such as a password manager. We discourage saving it in your notes or anywhere that is not secure, as your recovery key is critical in accessing your messages in Beeper.
Save Key in Passwords:
If choosing ‘Save key in Passwords’, a prompt will ask you to confirm your request. To save it, click ‘Save Password’. Your recovery key should then be accessible from your iOS Passwords app shortly.
If you need your key
If you'd like to view your recovery code again, you can go to Settings > click on your Profile > Show Recovery Key.
⚠️ Important notes:

Your recovery key will only be available in Settings when you either:
- Sign up for Beeper for the first time OR
- Log in and enter your recovery code as your verification method (instead of using another device)
- Once you have your recovery code after signing up for the first time, it's important that you save it in a safe place such as your Passwords app on iOS or in a similar password management service. We discourage users from saving it in any other app where it may be accessible to other people. Your recovery code is crucial to being able to access your messages in Beeper, and only you will have a copy of this. Beeper does not keep a copy of your personal recovery code.

Remove Recovery Key From iCloud Keychain: Using this button completely deletes the copy of your recovery key stored in your iCloud keychain. If you do not have it saved elsewhere, you will lose your recovery key and will need to reset it. We recommend making sure you've saved it somewhere first before deleting.
