How Do I Lock My Beeper App or Chats with Biometrics?

Want an extra layer of privacy? Beeper lets you lock the app itself, or individual chats, using Touch ID, fingerprint, face unlock, or your device passcode — depending on your platform.

Platform support

• Beeper Desktop (Mac): ✅ Supported
• Beeper Android: ✅ Supported
• Beeper iOS: ❌ Not currently supported

Beeper Desktop (Mac)

On Mac, you can require Touch ID authentication every time you launch the app:

1. Open Settings.
2. Search for "Require Touch ID authentication on launch."
3. Toggle it on.

Once enabled, you'll need to verify with Touch ID each time you open Beeper on your Mac.

Beeper Android

On Android, biometric locking is available through Beeper Labs.

Heads up! Beeper Labs are fun & experimental features created by the engineering team. They aren't subject to support like core Beeper features, and may be changed or removed at any time. Use at your own risk!

There are two options available in Labs:

1. App Lock

Requires biometric or passcode authentication every time you open the app.

1. Go to Labs.
2. Enable App Lock.

2. Chat Lock

Lets you lock individual chats rather than the whole app.

1. Go to Labs and enable Chat Lock.
2. Open the chat you want to lock.
3. Tap Chat Info.
4. Tap Chat Lock to enable it for that chat.

You can repeat this for as many chats as you'd like to keep private.

TL;DR

• Mac: Settings → General → "Require Touch ID authentication on launch"
• Android: Settings → Labs → App Lock (whole app) and/or Chat Lock (per chat, via Chat Info)
• iOS: Not yet available
